May 16 2013 @ 21:30 :: Abby Edwards League Cup Final
This one looked as if it was going to be a close one but appearances can be deceiving with the Olde Mill romping this one with a thumping 7-1 victory.

May 03 2013 @ 21:00 :: Brian Egan Final
Time for the first all-in cup competition final the Brian Egan which this year was contested by the current holders the Barrels and the Olde Mill.This one started a bit cagey with the first frame going to a re-rack, however first blood went to the Olde Mill with the Barrels coming back to go 2-1 up. The Olde Mill took the next to draw level at 2-2 and at this point the Barrels exploded to take the next 3 go to 5-2 up the remaining 2 frames of the singles were shared with the Barrels taking frame number nine to go 6-3 up and on the hill as our American cousins would say.
If the Barrels exploded in the Singles then the Olde Mill erupted in the Doubles taking the first 3 to make it 6-6 and take it to the last frame but unfortunately every mathc ends and this one ended with victory for the Barrels 7-6.
Congratulations must go to both teams for a superbly fought final with some of the best defensive and attacking pool I have seen in long time. It is easy to see why these two are the teams to beat each year.
It was also great to see players from other teams (I counted 4) there to watch the final and it was standing room only in the Fairmuir.
Cheers

April 25 2013 @ 18:00 :: League Week 22
Well crunch time has arrived. Would the Barrels slip up against the Ambassador to give the Olde Mill a chance at the title? Well no is the answer as whilst the Olde Mill got the 3 points they were striving for with an 8-4 victory over the Dundee A the Barrels achieved the same scoreline against the Ambassador to claim the title of DCPL Champions 2012-13.With the Ambassador losing it was third place for the Fairmuir and this before their 10-2 win away to the Olde Mill B. The Michelin A were looking to secure fifth place and needed a win in the derby match against the Michelin B to guarantee it however the B had other ideas and handed out a 8 - 4 defeat to the A team (who's humming the theme tune now?).
With the Michelin A being beat the Barrels A had a chance to leapfrog them to fifth but were stopped in their tracks the resurgent North End again by an 8-4 victory for the North End.
The Whitfield were looking for the Barrels A to suffer a heavy defeat coupled with a hefty victory for them to steal 6th place and they got the results they wanted but not the scorelines as their 10-2 victory was not enough to guarantee 6th and they finished 7th.
Congratulations to all teams this season for a great league and I look forward to upcoming finals.
Cheers

April 16 2013 @ 22:30 ::Challenge Finals
Time for the first pieces of silverware to be claimed and we’ll start with the Challenge Cup final between the Fairmuir and the Olde Mill. The Ode Mill were looking to retain the trophy they won last year and were favourites at 5-4 after the singles. The Fairmuir won the first of the doubles matches to make it 5-5 but the Olde Mill claimed the next two to claim a 7-5 victory.The Challenge Trophy final was a repeat of last year’s final with the North End also looking to retain the trophy when they took on last year’s runners up the Michelin B. Again this was a close one with the Michelin B taking a 5-4 lead into the doubles. The North End took the first double and each double was then traded until it was 6-6 with the Michelin B winning the match on the last 8 ball of the night.
Well done to the Olde Mill and the Michelin B and commiserations to the Fairmuir and the North End.
Cheers

April 10 2013 @ 11:40 :: Singles Round 2
Last 32 of the singles and from what I seen at a couple of the venues I attended there was some good pool played tonight. However the nature of competition means there are winners and losers so commiserations to those who failed to make the last 8 and congratulations to those who did.
A Jamieson (Barrels)
J Pollock (Barrels)
N Miller (Fairmuir)
D Glen (Barrels)
D McLaren (Fairmuir)
R Fleming (Olde Mill)
D Anderson (Olde Mill)

April 05 2013 @ 21:15 :: League Week 21
It's the penultimate week in the league calendar and we had some crackers tonight.League leaders the Barrels were looking to move with one week of the title when they visited the Whitfield but things did not go to plan with the Whitfield, for the 9th time this season, securing a 6-6 all draw in a match in which they were never behind. The Barrels lads did look a bit dejected when leaving thinking the chance to take the title form the Olde Mill had gone.
The Olde Mill had a visit from the ambassador who themselves are chasing 3rd place and did themselves a favour and the Barrels by recording only the first league win on Olde Mill soil this season with an 8-4 victory. Title wise this means the Barrels need a win, against the Ambassador, to guarantee things, however if they draw and the Olde Mill win against the Dundee A then we have a play off. The Olde Mill can still take the title if they win and the Barrels slip up. Right to the end then!
With the Ambassador breathing down the necks of the Fairmuir for third place there was no time for complacency for the Fairmuir in their match against the Dundee A and things went well for them with an 8-4 victory.
The North End have risen like a phoenix from the ashes of late and handed out a 9-3 thumping to the Olde Mill B
The Barrels A look like they have secured 6th spot with a 9-3 victory at home to the Michelin B and can now only finish 7th in the league if they lose heavily in their final game and the Whitfield win theirs but a 17 frame swing is required.
Last but not least is the Michelin A v Fairmuir tie and the Michelin have all but secured 5th with a 7-5 victory over the Fairmuir B.
There is still a lot to play for in the final league match of the season, admittedly most of it pride, but it’s been a tight season with little mini leagues within the league this year so all the best to every team in the final league fixture this season.
Cheers

March 28 2013 @ 20:15 :: Challenge Competitions Semi Finals
Time for the Challenge Cup Semi Finals and we will start with the Challenge Cup.The Fairmuir were looking to go one better than last year where they lsot out in the semis but it was going to be hard with them up against the current league Leaders the Barrels and with one went just about all the way but the Fairmuir secured their place in the Final with a fine 7-5 win over the Barrels. The other semi-final looked like it was going to be a close affair between the Olde Mill and the Ambassador but the Olde Mill had other ideas with a 7-3 victory to put them in the Final.
Onto the Challenge Trophy now and these matches certainly were going to be close affairs. And first up the Whitfield v North End tie. The Whitfield looking to gain something from a poor season and the North End resurgent of late served up a cracking tie with the North End snatching this one 7-6 to reach the Final with a view to defending the trophy they won last year. Last year’s runners up the Michelin B were looking to get to the Final to make up for the defeat in the Final last year and make it they did with a 7-6 victory over the Dundee A to serve up a repeat of last year’s Final.
Cheers

March 21 2013 @ 20:15 :: Fours round 1 / Doubles round 1
Well done to the qulaifiers for the final of the four man team event.N Halliburton, S Selvey, D Glen, F Falconer (Barrels)
B Connacher, M McGurty, S Gardiner, A McFie (Barrels A)
D Scanlon, S Ingram, M Duncan, J Allen (Olde Mill)
N Miller, S McFAdyen,M Douglas (Fairmuir)
After the problems from Round 1 of the Doubles the Working committee had a meeting to discuss the matter where it was confirmed that the Doubles round 1 will continue where it left on with the same draw and venues. The date for this is the 7th of May which was initially set for the POTY qualification and there we would ask that teams where they can play the POTY on other free weeks they may have. If teams have no free weeks due to continued cup competitions then we will sort this out nearer the time.
As for the reasons behind the failure to complete the event on the night I cannot fathom as we had the same number of venues and only one extra team allocated at each venue.
The league has also had complaints regarding the nature and style of draws and how they have been conducted and with this in mind draw sheets will be issued to all venues hosting singles, doubles etc. which clearly state how that draw should be done and this will alleviate any concerns regarding the draws.
I was also disappointed to find that two out of four venues, did not have the paperwork that I handed in to them for the four man team event and it appears that the problem lies with the staff at the venue not passing the paperwork on which resulted in me having to go to these venues and hand in copies of the paperwork. Can all captains make sure that they ask at the venue for any paperwork that I hand in as I do hand it in on a Tuesday around half five so it must take something for it to go missing in a couple of hours.
The draws for round 2 of the singles have been done and will be on the site by the weekend along with confirmation of the reaming neutral venues for this year.
Cheers

March 14 2013 @ 21:00 :: League Week 20
There is no prize for guessing guessing where we will start this week – the top of the table clash at the Barrels where they hosted the Olde Mill and the Barrels took revenge for their earlier defeat in the season by winning this one 9-3 to leap frog the Olde Mill into first place. So with two matches to go it’s all to play for at the top of the table with only 1 point separating the top two.Third place is also tight with the Ambassador and the Fairmuir separated by only 3 points at the start of the night and that’s how it stayed with the Fairmuir edging out the Barrels A 7-5 and the Ambassador repeating the score at home to the Fairmuir B.
In addition to the battles for first and third there is the matter of fifth place which is being cashed by Barrels A, Michelin A and the Whitfield and with the Barrels A slipping up could the other two take advantage? Well the Michelin A were held to a 6-6 draw by a resurgent North End but the Whitfield battled back from 5-2 down to win 7-5 at the Michelin B. This means in the race for 5th there is only 3 points of a difference.
Last but not least the battle of former stable mates the Dundee A and the Olde Mill B and this one was honours even in a 6-6 draw.
Cheers

February 28 2013 @ 21:00 :: League Week 19
Four League weeks to be played out and it’s still as close as ever.Current Champions the Olde Mill made it 6 wins on the trot with a thrashing of 4th placed Fairmuir courtesy for a 10-2 scoreline.
The Barrels kept up their challenge to the Olde Mill with an 8 – 4 victory at home to the Michelin A.
The Whitfield travelled to the Ambassador looking for a bit of revenge after their earlier drubbing in the season but once again the Ambassador triumphed 10-2 to move within 3 points of third placed Fairmuir.
Barrels A took full advantage of the Michelin A’s defeat to move within a point of them courtesy of their 7-5 victory at the Fairmuir B.
Now the North End have risen like a phoenix from the flames after some weeks of uncertainty and promptly handed out a 9-3 beating to the Dundee A to move up to 8th place.
Last but not least the Michelin B v Olde Mill B went the way of the Michelin B courtesy of a 12-0 walkovers after the Olde Mill B could not, for the first time this season, field a team.
Following on from last weeks’ notice about the EEPF competition I failed to mention that Audrey Beckett from the Olde Mill B was also representing Scotland in the Ladies A section who finished a respectable 4th.
Cheers

February 21 2013 @ 22:40 :: League Week 18
Well nitty gritty time now, so is there to be any movement in the league positions this week? Let’s see.Let start the with Olde Mill who faced a tricky match at home to the Barrels A and despite missing a couple players who were busy representing their Country (more on that later) they still ground out a 7-5 victory to maintain their position at the top of the league.
Second place Barrels remain where they started with a 12-0 walkover against the North End.
Third played fourth with the Fairmuir making the shortest away trip in the league to take on the ambassador and this one went to the wire with the Fairmuir running out 7-5 winners to remain third.
Next we head to the Michelin A for their match against the Olde Mill B and this one went to the Michelin A courtesy of a 9-3 victory.
Just up the road the Whitfield managed only their 4th win of the season but again this was a close one with the Whitfield claiming 3 points with a 7-5 win over the Dundee A.
Last but not least the Fairmuir B entertained the Michelin B and again we have another home win this week this time 8-4 in favour of the Fairmuir B.
I alluded earlier to the Olde Mill having a couple of lads playing for Scotland in the 2013 EEPF European Eightball Pool Championships.
Well Marc & Ryan Fleming did the Olde Mill and Scottish and Dundee pool proud with both players making it to the last 16 on the individual competitions. Also playing is Jimmy "Jinky" Pollcok who unfortunately lost out in the first round.
The Team sections are even better with the Scotland A team into the Semi Finals tomorrow where they meet Ireland A and both Scotland A & B are currently topping their tables with England in 2nd place.
Also playing is Jim Fleming (once of the Tuesday league) who is representing Scotland in the seniors who made it to the last 32.
Follow all action here :
Well done lads !!
If I have missed anyone out who is also playing in the Championships et me know.
Cheers

February 12 2013 @ 22:40 :: Abby Edwards Leauge Cup Semi Finals
Semi Final time in the Abby Edwards League Cup tonight and all eyes were on the Olde Mill v Barrels semi and this one looked to be a cracker. It was tight all the way here with the Olde Mill eking out a 5-4 lead after the singles and they did book their place in the Final with a 7-5 final score line.The other semi between the Dundee A & Fairmuir was even closer with the score of 5 – 4 to the Fairmuir after the singles it was the Fairmuir who triumphed in the end 7-6 to set up a meeting with the Olde Mill in the Final.
Taking advantage of a free week the Barrels A entertained the Whitfield in a friendly which went the way of the Barrels A courtesy of a 7-5 score.
Cheers

February 07 2013 @ 20:00 :: League Week 17
Only one place to start this week and that’s at the Fairmuir where the Barrels were welcome in the 2nd v 3rd tie and with only frame difference between them this one could be tight. Well the Barrels should why they got to the League play-off last year and have been in the top two all season with an 8-4 victory over the Fairmuir.The Olde Mill remain top with a 9-3 away victory over the Michelin B, but the Michelin A had better fortune on their visit to the Barrels A where they were victorious 7 frames to 5.
The Dundee A’s recent fine run cane to an end with a visit to the Ambassador where they lost out 9 frames to 3. The Fairmuir B v North End tie saw the Fairmuir B come out winners 8-4.
The Whitfield this week grabbed 3 points with a 10-2 victory away to the Olde Mill B.
Abby Edwards Cup Semis this week coming so team without a match feel free to organise friendlies or play your POTY and let me know.
Cheers

January 30 2013 @ 20:20 :: Leaguer Week 16
Well we are into the last quarter of the League campaign and it is still tight at the top with only 5 points separating the top 3 and that is where we will start.Top of the table Olde Mill remain where they are courtesy of 3 points from the North End via a walkover victory as the North End failed to produce a team for the match.
The Barrels remain in second place this time with a 9-3 victory over the Olde Mill B which considering the Olde Mill themselves not playing as such would have made for an interesting atmosphere!!
Chasing the top two are the Fairmuir who thanks to a 10-2 victory over the Michelin B kept their challenge up and are now level on points and only 6 frames behind the Barrels which makes next week’s match between them interesting.
The Barrels A recorded a superb 8-4 victory over the Ambassador which puts them 7 points clear of the bottom half of the league and means the Ambassador lose ground on the challenge for the top spot.
The Dundee A recorded only their 3rd victory of the season with a 7-5 win at the Fairmuir B which sees the Dundee A move up from 11th to 9th in the League.
Last but not least the Whitfield entertained the Michelin A and this one went the way of the Michelin A with a fine 8-4 victory.
Cheers

January 23 2013 @ 17:00 :: Singles Round 1
Round one of the Singles and by all accounts I assume that it was a full turnout, as it was at my venue and no notifications of anyone not turning up.Anyway the list fo qualified players are available on the Singles Page. So well done to all those through.
One little complaint on my part. Once again I had to chase the qualifiers from one venue (Olde Mill) and to be honest I don't have time for this. It is the responsibility of the controller to remain at the venue until the end and notify me. If team captains don't want the responsibility being controller then let me know beforehand so I can sort something else out.
Cheers

January 16 2013 @16:45 :: League Week 15
We are closing in on the business end of the season and thing are getting tight at the top.The Olde Mill ran out 9-3 winners in the Olde mill derby to remain top by two points from the Barrels who themselves stayed second thanks to an 8-4 home win over the Fairmuir B.
Talking of the Fairmuir again another non-mover in the table but they are getting closer to the barrels thanks to a 10-2 victory over the Michelin A and now are only 8 frames behind. Fourth spot as you probably have guessed remains the property of the Ambassador who made sure it was a back week all round for the Michelin Club as they ran out 8-4 victors against the Michelin B.
Whitfield managed their third league win this season with this week’s third 8-4 victory over the North End. Last but not least is the Dundee A v Barrels A tie and the spoils went to the Barrels A with a 7-5 victory which meant the Barrels A were the only team to move up in the league this week as they leapfrogged the Michelin A to 5th.
Second week back and we have a missing score already! I thought we were going to have a better second half but it does not look like it. :(
Cheers

Janaury 11 2013 @20:40 :: League Week 14
A bit late but Happy New Year to all.Well after the 3 week ‘winter break’ was there to be any major shocks or upsets this week.
Not for the top two as it was business as usual with the Olde Mill starting the year in style with a thumping 10-2 victory over the Whitfield. The Barrels meanwhile looking to keep pressure on the Olde Mill had a derby match with an ‘away’ tie against the Barrels A and this proved to be a bit closer with the Barrels running out 7-5 winners.
Third and four placed Fairmuir and Ambassador as still in the hunt for the title but needed wins to keep pressure on and win they both got with the Fairmuir claiming a 9-3 win over the North End and the Ambassador just edging a 7-5 victory over the Michelin A.
Into the bottom half now and the Dundee A claimed only their second win of the season with a 7-5 home victory over the Michelin B and the Fairmuir B got back to winning ways with a 7-5 victory over the Olde Mill B.
All scores in on time this week but I must apologise for the lateness in getting the site done. Simple reason for it to be honest I was busy working! Things have now changed and the site will be updated on a Wednesday evening from now on.
Cheers

December 20 2012 @22:03 :: Brian Egan Semi Finals
Brian Egan semi final time and let’s start with last year’s finalists the Barrels v Whitfield with the Whitfield looking to avenge their 7-2 defeat last year and although they did a bit better this year it was not good enough as the Barrels ran out 7-4 winners on the night.Who were the Barrels to face in the final I hear you ask? Well you all know the form book can be thrown out the Window when it comes to cup matches but this time it stayed true to form with the Olde Mill running out 7-3 winners over the Dundee A.
This sets up the Final as Barrels v Olde Mill at a venue yet to be decided.
With the majority of teams having the week off the Fairmuir A & B took the opportunity to play a friendly against the Barrels A and this one went to the wire with the Fairmuir XI winning 8-7.
Well that’s us until the 8 January so on behalf of the DCTPL Committee can we wish all Captains and players a merry Christmas and we will see you in the New Year
Cheers

December 13 2012 19:50 :: League Week 13
Last league week before Christmas and let’s see who Santa was good to.First match up is the Michelin A v Olde Mill tie and this one produced a cracker with honours even in a 6-6 draw.
Olde Mill B had their first trip to the Ambassador and they were hoping for something nice in their stocking but only found 4 frames as they lost out 8-4.
Derby time at the Fairmuir with the ‘B’ team being at home and they were looking for revenge after their recent Leaguer Cup defeat, but on this occasion Fairmuir once again triumphed this time 11-1.
The North End v Michelin B saw a great result for the End as they got their first win since week 8, but it was a close one in which they edged it 7-5.
The Dundee A had a massive trip of 500 metres to the Barrels to go to for their match and the walk must have tired them out as they lost out 8-4.
Last up tonight is the Whitfield Barrels A match and last time these two met is was a 6-6 draw and with the Whitfield having 7 draws so far would anyone be able to predict this one?? Well if we believe the fountain of knowledge that is Facebook then Steve Selvey of the Barrels predicted 6-6 and he got it right. Any tips for Sat Steve?
Cheers

December 11 2012 22:45 :: Disciplinary Hearing (Olde Mill v Barrels League Week 9)
On Monday 10 December a disciplinary hearing was held regarding the the above match as it was alleged the Barrels refused to complete the required frames in a match, namely the 4 doubles frames and as such are in violation of Rule 6.8 of the DCTPL Constitution. It was also alleged that the Olde Mill accepted without play the 4 doubles frames in the same match, again in violation of Rule 6.8 of the DCTPL Constitution.The matter was discuss at length by a 5 man panel disciplinary committee, as required by section 2 paragraph 3 of the constitution, and both teams were found to be in violation of rule 6.8 "In league matches ALL 12 FRAMES must be played. Any teams found to be offering or accepting frames without play will be asked to appear before the committee."
Neither Captain choose to appear, although they were given the opportunity to do so.
The Disciplinary Committee decided upon the following
- The Barrels, for failing to complete the fixture and offering frames without play in contravention of rule 6.8 of the DCTPL Constitution, are deducted 3 points.
- The Olde Mill, for accepting frames without play in contravention of rule 6.8 of the DCTPL Constitution, are deducted 2 points.
Both Captains have indicated they wish to appeal the decision of the disciplinary Committee and the Committee await their written requests for an appeal hearing.
Cheers

December 06 2012 19:10 :: Challenge Competitions
Well it the starting points for the Challenge competitions and well being with the top half teams in the Challenge Cup.The two matches here promised what could be a couple of really tight matches. The Ambassador v Michelin tie lived up to that expectation with a 7-6 victory for the Ambassador to see them into the semis to face the Olde Mill. The Fairmuir were facing the Barrels A who, on the back of a 12-0 victory last week, felt they could oust the Fairmuir to set up a meeting with Barrels in the semi, but it was to be the Fairmuir to who progressed with a scoreline of 7-2.
This gives us the following semi-finals
Fairmuir v Barrels
Olde Mill v Ambassador
OK lets head for the Challenge Trophy now and first up the Fairmuir B v Whitfield, which was switched to he Whitfield due to the Fairmuir being drawn at home first in the Challenge Cup. The Fairmuir B met the Whitfield two weeks ago and drew 6-6, a result which saw the Whitfield drop form the top half to the bottom half of the league, and the Fairmuir B must have fancied their chances at making the semis but the Whitfield, perhaps with revenge on their minds, had other ideas and saw this one out with a 7-0 scoreline. The Michelin B had a tricky away tie to the Olde Mill B and were hoping their improved form of late would see them though and see them it did with a 7-4 victory to see them into the semis.
Now we have:
Whitfield v North End
Dundee v Michelin B
All semis will have neutral venues are these are being drawn up and once decided will appear on the neutral venues page of the site.
Cheers

November 29 2012 @ 20:00 :: League Week 12
And onto the second half we go. With only 9 points separating the top 4 and them all to play each other it’s could get tight at the top.First this week we’ll head to the Barrels for the Barrels A v Olde Mill B tie and what a result for the Barrels B with a thumping 12-0 victory over the Olde Mill B. Even better they did this week by playing pool !!!
Stablemates the Barrels had, on paper, an easy trip to the Michelin to face the Michelin B but as has been seen before sometimes the form book goes flying out the window and on this occasion it got as far the window sill but no further as the Barrels sneaked home 7-5.
Current leaders the Olde Mill had a home tie against the Fairmuir B to test them and the Fairmuir B tried but came slightly short losing out 8-4
Up to the Fairmuir for their tie against the Whitfield and this week the Whitfield managed to avoid a draw this week although a defeat was not the result they were looking for as they also went down 8-4.
Fourth placed Ambassador looked to keep up their challenge when the North End came calling and keep it up they did although it was close with the Ambassador claiming the points with a 7-5 victory.
Last but not least the Dundee A had a home tie against the Michelin A and this was went the distance with the match ending up all square at 6-6.
Cheers

November 29 2012 @ 19:50 :: EGM Update
At the recent EGM, to select a new Chairman following the resignation of Neil Cosgrove, Andy Wares (Barrels) was nominated and accepted as the new Chairman until the end of this season.The League Committee would like to take this opportunity thank Neil for his work in the past 15 months.

November 22 2012 @ 15:55 :: League Week 11
That’s us at the halfway point in the league - does'nt time fly !!!League Champions the Olde Mill ended the first half of the season with home tie against their Brian Egan semi final opponents the Dundee A. Well the Dundee A will be hoping for a better result in the semi final after going down 8-4 which means the Olde Mill are undefeated for the first half of the season and indeed have only lost one point so far with a draw against the Whitfield (who else !).
The Barrels A were looking to get a result to end the first half of the season in the top half of the table and they got the result they wanted but not the way they wanted. The North End arrived but unfortunately could not field a team as they only had 4 players available to them on the night and as such a walkover (12-0) is granted to the Barrels A.
Also challenging the Barrels A for the top 6 place were the Whitfield who needed a win at home to the Fairmuir B, and what did they get? OK, stop shouting they managed yet another draw (what else) which means they end up in the bottom half of the league along with the Fairmuir B at the split.
On paper, the match between the Ambassador and the Barrels was probably going to be the hardest of the night but it did not turn out that way with the Ambassador suffering their biggest defeat of the season so far losing 10-2 to the Barrels.
The penultimate game was the derby match at the Michelin with the B team having ‘home advantage’. This one went the way of the ‘away’ team though with an 8-4 victory in favour of the Michelin A.
Lastly we head to the Fairmuir for their tie against the Olde Mill B and this one went to the Fairmuir by 10-2 margin.
Now we have reached the halfway point in the league the draw for the Challenge competitions are now updated and on the site, however both Fairmuir teams are drawn at home and as the Challenge Cup (top 6) was drawn before the Challenge Trophy (bottom 6) it means the Fairmuir B v Whitfield tie will be switched to the Whitfield.
All scores in on time. Well done all.
Cheers

November 15 2012 @ 10:50 :: Brian Egan Quarter Finals
Well cup week again and this time it’s the Quarters of the Brian Egan and there were a couple of tasty matches on offer. Let’s start with the derby match at the Barrels with the current holders the Barrels v Barrels A. The Barrels A were looking to build on last week’s fine win with the Barrels themselves looking to recover from there draw last week. Well it was the Barrels who powered on into the Semis with a fine 7-1 victory.Dundee A, already in the Semi’s of the Abby Edwards League Cup were looking to make it two for two with a difficult away match at the Michelin B and make it they did, but only just with a score of 7-6.
Last year’s runners-up the Whitfield had a hard match against the Michelin A but with home advantage could they claim a semi final place? Well with a 7-2 victory in the bag they did indeed.
Last but not least is the Fairmuir v Olde Mill tie and this one looked to be a tough one on paper but it would seem Olde Mill were in fine form as this was the third quarter not to need the doubles matches with the Olde Mill winning 7-2.
Semi final draw
Barrels v Whitfield
Olde Mill v Dundee A
Cheers

November 08 2012 @ 20:30 :: League Week 10
League business again this week and it’s getting close to the cut off point for the Challenge Competitions.Let’s start off with the Ambassador v Olde Mill match and with the Ambassador going strong of late this was their chance to put pressure on the Olde Mill and the Barrels at the top of the table. It was, however, not a chance they took as the match ended 8-4 in favour of the Olde Mill.
The Barrels in second place were looking to get back on track and faced a home match against the Whitfield. The Whitfield are this season draw specialists with 5 going into this match and yes you guessed it they made it six draws from 10 games and the Barrels showed why they are 2nd top with by claim with the draw despite being 5-3 down at one point.
With the Ambassador losing this was a chance for the Fairmuir to sneak back to 3rd if they could win at the Dundee A and win they did with the final score being 10-2 in favour of the Fairmuir.
The Michelin A all but secured their place in the draw for the Challenge Cup with a fine 8 – 4 win over the Fairmuir B. Stablemates the Michelin B however were not so lucky in their match with the Barrels A who triumphed 9-3 and gave themselves a shout of finishing the first half of the fixtures in the top 6.
Last but not least is the Olde Mill v North End tie and this one was honours even which saw the Olde Mill B pick up their 2nd point of the season and the North End suffer two draws in succession.
A reminder to all Captains – cup week next week so no 6 man rule !
Most of the scores in on time – one offender (see below)
Cheers

November 02 2012 @ 20:20 :: League Week 9
Back to league business this week and where else can we start but the big match of the week - the undefeated Olde Mill v the 100%’r the Barrels. If the form book was anything to go by then this game was set to go all the way but then sometimes the book gets it wrong and boy was it wrong this time with the Olde Mill romping home 11-1 inside of 47 minutes. This must be a record for the league and this result puts the Olde Mill to the top of the league for the first time this season.Hard on the heels of the top two are the Ambassador who kept up the pressure at the top, but only just, with a 7 – 5 victory away to the Fairmuir B. Fourth place Fairmuir had lost their way in the past few weeks but got back on the winning track with a fine 9 – 3 win over the Barrels A.
Dundee A continued their fine form from last week and claimed their first league victory of the season with an 8-4 win at home to the Olde Mill B to move 4 points clear of their former stable mates.
The Michelin A looked like favourites going into their game against the North End, but the North end produced a fine result by claiming a 6 all draw. Last but not least we head to the Whitfield for their tie match against the Michelin B and for the first time this season the Whitfield put in a decent performance and romped home 10-2.
Once again all scores in on time.
Cheers

October 24 2012 @ 10:50 :: Abby Edwards Quarter Finals
Well a break from the league tonight and into the quarter finals of the Abby Edwards League Cup.The holders the Fairmuir had a tasty match in prospect with a match against their stables mates the Fairmuir B and it was the Fairmuir who went through with a comfortable win 7-2 to progress to the semis.
The Olde Mill also had a tough match with them playing the only team to take a point from them this season so far the Whitfield - and it was relatively close one with the Olde Mill winning 7 – 4.
The North End had the short trip down to one of last year’s semi finalist the Barrels and where hoping to cause an upset but went down 7-3.
So three matches and three homes, could it be a clean sweep for home ties????
The Barrels A also had a short trip to the Dundee A and this one was close as well but the Dundee A triumphed 7-4 to see them into the semis.
So 4 home wins tonight – not often you see that in our league!!
The revised draw is as follows:
Olde Mill v Barrels
Dundee A v Fairmuir
Neutral venues still to be decided.
All scores in on time as well !!!!
Cheers

October 18 2012 @ 22:00 :: League Week 8
Right then lads slightly late this week due to technical difficulties at my end but hey ho better late than never.First up this week is the Barrels and they had a difficult one on their hands with a trip to the Michelin A and this one was close with the Barrels getting their hardest test but managing to claim a narrow 7-5 victory. Second place Olde Mill had it a wee bit easier with a 9-3 victory away to the Fairmuir which sees the Fairmuir drop to 4th after the Ambassador had a thumping 10-2 victroy away to the Whitfield.
It was good news this week for the North End, who have struggled of late as they had a good 8-4 win at home to the Dundee A, and another team who also have not had a great start the Michelin B who this week claimed their biggest win of the season with 10-2 victory over the Olde Mill B.
This leaves the Barrels A v Fairmuir B match and who was to claim the points here - the Barrels A were the victors with a 7 frames to 5 score line. This match also threw up a rare event with Barrels A Captain Mark McGurty claiming not only one but two 8 ball clearances. Something I must admit I have not seen myself, so well done Mark !
All scores in on time as well !!!
Cheers

October 11 2012 @ 20:22 :: League Week 7
OK. I’ll hold my hands up. I cocked it up last week in the news page by stating that last year’s Champs were the Barrels so apologies to the Olde Mill for the clanger.Onto this week and we will start with the current champs the Olde Mill (see what I did there?) and their trip to the Barrels A. The Olde Mill turned a class act and romped home 11-1.
Last year’s runners-up the Barrels faced a trip to the North End and by the time they left it was with all 3 points after a comfortable 10-2 Victory.
Third place Fairmuir hosted 4th place Ambassador and as the league table reads there is not much between them and that’s the way it was in this match with honours even at 6 all.
Talking of draws the Whitfield (masters of the draw this season) failed to build on their win from last week and again managed a 6-6 draw with the Dundee A.
The Michelin B moved up to 8th in the table with a fine 7-5 win at home to the Fairmuir B and the Michelin A made it a double for the Michelin Club with a roaring 11-1 victory over the Olde Mill B.
For a bit of fun I have collated the average match scores for all teams after 7 matches so for
| Team (Current League Position) | Fames Won | Frames Lost |
| Barrels | 10.00 | 2.00 |
| Olde MIll | 9.29 | 2.71 |
| Fairmuir | 7.14 | 4.86 |
| Ambassador | 6.86 | 5.14 |
| Micheiln A | 6.14 | 5.86 |
| Fairmuir B | 5.14 | 6.86 |
| Whitfield | 6.29 | 5.71 |
| Michelin B | 5.00 | 7.00 |
| Barrels A | 4.57 | 7.43 |
| North End | 4.71 | 7.29 |
| Dundee A | 3.71 | 8.29 |
| Olde Mill B | 3.14 | 8.86 |
I cant belive that I am having to say this again - I MUST HAVE SCORE FROM BOTH CAPTAINS AND MUST ALSO BE NOTIFIED IF ANY TEAMS USE THE 6 MAN RULE.
Cheers

October 04 2012 @ 20:15 :: League Week 6
Well no doubt the big match this week was the top of the table clash between the only 100% teams in the league, the Barrels and the Fairmuir. A record was going in this one but who was going to lose it? Well the Barrels showed why they are the current league Champions with a 9-3 victory over the Fairmuir. Long way to go though so who is going to be first to claim points from the Barrels?The Olde Mill were looking for a slip-up by the Fairmuir to regain 2nd place and 2nd place they moved to with their 10-2 victory over the Michelin B.
Also chasing up the league are the Ambassador who continued recent fine form with an 8-4 victory away to the Dundee A.
The Fairmuir B had their first visit to the North End which resulted in a 7-5 for the Fairmuir boys to keep them 5th.
“Always the draw, never the win” Whitfield finally got their first 3 pointer of the season with a 9-3 victory over the Olde Mill B to move them up into the top half of the table.
Last but not least is the Michelin A – Barrels A tie and this one gave us our 5th home wim of the night with a 9-3 victory for the Michelin A.

September 26 2012 @ 10:50 :: Brian Egan Round 1
This week saw the first round of the Brain Egan Memorial Shield it produced a couple of cracking matches. Let’s start with the holders the Barrels who faced a tough match against the Douglas. This one nearly went the distance with the Barrels edging it 7-5 and in the words of Barrels Captain Andy Wares it was “the best match you will see all season”.One match that did go the distance was the Michelin A – Fairmuir B tie and it was tough luck on the Fairmuir B who lost out 7-6.
There was also the matter of a local derby with the north End entertaining the Fairmuir and this one could have went either way with the Fairmuir taking 3-0 lead and the North End coming back to 4-3 before eventually losing out 7-5 which see the Fairmuir in the next round.
The Dundee A had home advantage against their old stalemates the Olde Mill B however this one was won seemingly easily by the Dundee A 7-3.
Check out the Brian Egan page for the next round draw.

September 19 2012 @ 20:15 :: League Week 5
Where to start this week. Well let's give the two 100% teams and table toppers their place and begin with them. The Barrels looked to keep their run going with a home win against the Olde Mill B and that they did with an impressive 11-1 victory. Chasing the Barrels are this years new form team the Fairmuir and they were at home to the Michelin B who were looking to keep things going after their impressive win last week. Well the Fairmuir's unbeaten run continues but it was close as they ground out a 7-5 victory.The Olde Mill are chasing the top two and could they keep the pressure up with a home tie against the North End - yes is the answer as they ran out 9-3 winners.
The Douglas looked to get back to winning ways with a home tie against the Barrels A and wining way it was with an 8-4 victory. Winning ways was also on the cards for the Fairmuir B as they romped home 9-3 against the Dundee A.
On the subject of winning ways could the Whitfield manage their first win of the season away to the Michelin?? No was the answer but at least they are consistent as they racked their 4th draw in a row.
Cheers

September 13 2012 @ 22:10 :: League Week 4
OK so I got the missing scores and even after asking for the scores in tonights Telegraph one team has still not submitted their score. This is not good enough, so I have added a sinners table to the Tables page on the website which lists late and missing scores from all teams with each team getting 3 strikes.Rant over and onto the pool now and with the Barrels, Douglas and Fairmuir all having 100% records would any of them go this week? Well one did go and it was the Douglas who lost their 100% record to the Michelin B by a 7-5 score line. With this score in mind could the Fairmuir and Barrels maintain their records this week. Top of the table Barrels were at the Fairmuir B with and for the 4th league match in a row the Barrels won by a 10-2 score line. The Fairmuir were not to be outdone and in turn also claimed a 10-2 victory this time away to the Michelin A.
Third place Olde Mill had a derby match this week and recorded another 10-2 victory to keep them in the hunt and take advantage of the Douglas defeat to move up to 3rd.
With three 10-2 victories so far could we get a 4th - well thanks to the Barrels A we did as they claimed all 3 points at home to the Dundee A.
Was five 10-2 too much to ask for? Yes is the answer as the consistent Whitfield managed their 3rd draw on the trot away to the North End
Cheers

September 05 2012 @ 10:30 :: Abby Edwards League Cup R1
We'll start this week with the first score in - Fairmuir B v Olde Mill B and with the Fairmuir B claiming 3 points in the league a few weeks ago could the Olde Mill B claim any revenge? No is the answer as the Fairmuir B romped home 7-1 to set up a quarter final tie with the current holders the Fairmuir. Rumours are this one’s going to be all ticket !!!!!
Next in was the Michelin A - Olde Mill tie and this was expected to be a close affair however the Olde Mill grabbed a spot in the quarters with a convincing 7-3 victory, which is not bad considering they thought they had a free week an hour before the match !!!! Reward for the Olde Mill is a home tie against the Whitfield in the quarters.
Michelin B v Dundee A now and this was originally drawn with the Michelin B at home but as the A team were drawn at home first the fixture was reversed and could this give the Dundee A an advantage? Well the B team managed a bit better than the A team, but not much, as they also went out of the competition losing out 7-4 which sets up the Dundee A at home in a quarter final tie with the Barrels A.
Last result in this week is the Douglas v North end tie and this one produced a cracker. With the Douglas having a 100% record and at home they were probably the favourites in this one but it was the Douglas to bowed out with the North End claiming a 7-6 victory to set themselves up against the Barrels in the quarters.
Cheers

September 01 2012 @ 13:50 :: League Week 3
OK onto the pool then:
Early pace setters the Barrels looked to continue their unbeaten run with a derby match against the Barrels A and keep that run up they did and in some style with their third 10-2 victory in a row. Talking of unbeaten runs, next to try and keep that going was 2nd place Olde Mill who where at home to the Whitfield, however the run came to an end for the Olde Mill as they held out for a 6-6 all draw.
Another team making a great start to the League is the Douglas and this week they were at home to the Michelin A and they again were consistant claiming a third 7-5 victory . The Douglas’s victory means they are also unbeaten with a 100% record in the league. The Fairmuir travelled the short distance to the North End this week and again a 7-5 victory in favour of the Fairmuir mean they along with the Barrels and Douglas remain unbeaten with a 100% record this season.
Things are just as tight in the bottom half of the table so could the Michelin B or Dundee A grab three points to move upwards – no is the answer as they shared the spoils in the weeks 2nd 6-6 all draw. Last game this week is the two new boys Fairmuir B v Olde Mill B (OK exactly new) and it was the Fairmuir B who got the points with an 8-4 victory which sees them go top of the bottom half.
On the tables page there is a new list with the teams that have used the 6 man rule and I need to remind all captains that you MUST let me know when you have used this. Also can I ask Captains to take 10 minutes and read the constitution as I usually don’t have time on Tuesday nights during matches to answer queries as to how things run. Every Captain was given a copy in their season folder and it is also available to download from the website.
Cheers

August 24 2012 @ 21:00 :: League Week 2
Let’s start this week with the Olde Mill v Michelin A tie and what a result for the Olde Mill with a crushing 10-2 victory which prompted cries of “top o’ the league” from one particular Olde Mill player which would have true had the Barrels not won 11-1 against the Dundee A which sees the Barrels retain 1st place with the Olde staying 2nd. Early days yet but can these two be tamed?
Another good start was had by the Fairmuir last week and Tuesday saw the first Fairmuir derby for many a year with the Fairmuir v Fairmuir B tie. And it was the Fairmuir team that claimed the bragging rights with a fine 10-2 victory.
The Douglas continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 7-5 victory over the Olde Mill B which sees them stay 4th, but the Olde Mill B are showing great improvement from last season.
One of last season’s challengers to the Barrels/Olde Mill was the Whitfield who last week fell at the first hurdle but could they get back on track with a visit to the Barrels A? No is the answer with the Barrels A fighting back well to claim a 6-6 all draw.
Last this week is the Michelin B v North End tie and again this was close one with the North End running out 7-5 winners which see them move into the top half of the table.
Thanks to all Captains who sent in the scores this week and we got a full house this time, and if a non Captain texts in the score let me know who you are as I don’t have everybody’s numbers in my phone !
Oh and that Olde Mill player – let’s keep that a secret to save his blushes eh?
Cheers

Augsut 17 2012 @ 22:24 :: League Week 1
Last year’s 3rd and 4th placed teams met with the Whitfield looking to gain a bit of revenge over the Fairmuir who pipped them to 3rd place and revenges tuned out to be off the menu with the Fairmuir running out 7-5 winners.
Another “new” team the Olde Mill B (formerly the Dundee B) made their debut at their new home and got off to a good start with a 6-6draw against the Barrels A. This was a great result for they have now beat their points total for last season. Maybe the change of scenery suits them now??
Two matches left and how did the North End v Douglas tie fair with the North End finishing strongly last season could they keep their run going, unfortunately for them no and they went down 7 frames to 5.
Last but not least is the Michelin A v Dundee A tie and the Michelin grabbed all three points with an 8-4 victory at home.
Well week one over and no dramas – hurrah!!! Actually I do have one moan though – remember that the scores must come from both Captains’ and last week only one away Captain actually texted the score in so please make sure that you do it.
Cheers

The Dundee Clubs Tuesday Pool League has been running now for over 20 years with its origins in the Social Conveners League. Some years ago the league opened its doors to local pubs as well as Social Clubs to expand the league, and although much has changed and is still changing what has not changed is our commitment to fair play, sportsmanship and our endeavour to foster the game of pool in Dundee.
