Competition Formats

 

Singles Format

The competition, which has an entrance fee of £2.00, will be played over 3 rounds in the following format:

  Round 1 – 8 Venues with 4 qualifying from each giving 32 qualifiers.
  Round 2 – 4 Venues of 8 players each with 2 qualifying from each venue.
  Round 3 – 1 Venue with 8 qualifiers playing to a finish.

All matches are to be the best of 5 frames, with the exception of the final match (to decide winner and runner-up) which will be the best of 7.  Referees are optional and it is up to the players involved to decide if they wish a referee.  If one player wishes a referee and another does not then a referee must be supplied and this will be the duty of the venue controller to resolve.

All players must sign in at the venue in person by no later than 7:45 PM with the matches to start at 8:00 PM.  Each venue will have a controller, who has overall responsibility to make the draw and inform the match secretary, on completion of all games, the names of the qualifying players.  The controller has the responsibility to remain at the event until it is concluded.

The semi-finalists and finalists will receive a cash prize which is yet to be determined and is based upon the entry fees collected.  Quarter finalists may receive a cash prize but that is dependent on the numbers entered into the competition.

 

Doubles Format

The competition, which has an entrance fee of £4.00 per team, will be played over 2 rounds in the following format:

  Round 1 – 4 Venues with 2 qualifying from each giving 8 qualifiers.
  Round 2 – 1 Venue with 8 qualifiers playing to a finish.

All matches are to be the best of 3 frames, with the exception of the final match (to decide winner and runner-up) which will be the best of 5.  Referees are optional and it is up to the teams involved to decide if they wish a referee.  If one team wishes a referee and another does not then a referee must be supplied and this will be the duty of the venue controller to resolve.

Should one player from any qualifying team be unable to play in later rounds then a player replacement would only be allowed by the committee under the most extreme of circumstances, and then only players that have not played in the Doubles competition so far would be allowed.
 

Fours Format

The competition, which has an entrance fee of £2.00 per player, and will be played over 2 rounds in the following format:
  Round 1 – 4 Venues with 1 qualifying from each giving 8 qualifiers.
  Round 2 – 1 Venue with 4 qualifiers playing to a finish.
Each team will comprise of 3 or 4 players.  Each match will consist of 3 singles and 2 doubles played in that order.  If a team has 3 players then each player must play in singles match and one player can play twice in the doubles matches. If a team has 4 players then any 3 from 4 must play in the singles and all players must play in the doubles.

Referees are optional and it is up to the players/teams involved to decide if they wish a referee.  If one player/team wishes a referee and another does not then a referee must be supplied and this will be the duty of the venue controller to resolve.

Player of the Year Format

The competition is open to one player from each team who will have won the right to play in the competition through the method chosen by the team involved.

The competition, which has no entrance fee and no prive money, will be played on one night with all matches the best of 3 with exception of the final which will be best of 5.

Referees are optional and it is up to the players involved to decide if they wish a referee.  If one player wishes a referee and another does not then a referee must be supplied and this will be the duty of the venue controller to resolve.

All players must sign in at the venue in person by no later than 7:45 PM with the matches to start at 8:00 PM.  A member of the Working Committee will be in attendance to make the draw and inform the match secretary, the names of the winner and runner-up. If due to unforeseen circumstances any qualifying player cannot attend then a replacement is allowed.
